Hello all, it's been a while since the last post and since I had left Boston. Just wanted to say that I'm well and alive and back in the Little Island of Humidity once again.

Ironic that when I went back to Boston in September, I had that feeling of displacement and awkwardness; only to have that same feeling again now that I'm back. It just feels strange being back for a long term period of time, without having to think about how many days I have left before I have to head back to the place that had been my 2nd home for the past 5 years. Just funny that the moment I'm back home, I have the urge to get out and go somewhere else again. Maybe it's just the wanderlust.

Anyway, since everyone's doing it:

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
HMmm....I suppose my cultural exchange trip to Japan. I've been to Japan several times before, but this was the first time I had been there on an official, academic context, thus making other people (and myself) obligated to interact and all.

It was a fantastic experience and it made me many wonderful friends....friends which I've been doing a poor job of keeping in contact with

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
RESOLUTIONS ARE FOR THE WEAK.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yeye, or my paternal grandfather, passed away a couple of weeks ago. His health had been deteriorating quite a bit this year, and it came to a crescendo when he got pneumonia and went into a coma.

He's in a better place now, and I'm glad he decided for himself all the way to the end.

Rest well, Yeye.

5. What countries did you visit?
Japan (Tokyo, Hokkaido, Kyoto) and err..Boston! Wahahaha.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
I can, and always will strive to be stronger.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
December 20, 2009.

End of my University career..........and almost dying in 12 inches of snow in my attempt to get home X___x.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
GRADUATION WITH HONOURS BITCHES.

9. What was your biggest failure?
That somehow no matter how hard I try, I still feel weak and lacking.

10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
A lot more muscle aches this time, probably because I overdo it with the gym thing.

11.What was the best thing you bought?
SHINY SHINY SHINY TOYS.

I'll tell you all about them, but that's for another entry.

12.Whose behavior merited celebration?
All the wonderful friends I've made in Boston, who have been putting up with me for the past 5 years. Love ya' guys (no homo, man).

13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own, occasionally. And to an extent my extended family's, but that's a long story.

14.Where did most of your money go?
Toys
Toys
Toys
Toys

Kiva Emperor form costume

15.What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My cultural exchange trip to Japan, easily.

I've worked long and hard on my Japanese language to get it to a level where I can actually express myself to a decent degree, and the trip was the best chance I've ever had to make full use of it.

As much as I have my gripes about it, it also further cemented why I love Japan so much.

16.What song will always remind you of 2009?
Change

Just gotta love the shamisen and the rap, and of course, the lyrics.

17.Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Hmmm....I suppose I'm happier? More focused at the very least.

18.What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I had gotten to know some people better, as I was pretty much a hermit pouring over my books this semester.

19.What do you wish you'd done less of?
Definitely spending of money <__<.

20.How did you spend Christmas?
Threw a party at my place. Thanks to all who came!

I thought I did, but in the end I realised it wasn't what I thought it was and I'm glad I didn't act foolishly .

23.How many one-night stands?
I've stood quite a bit at night, so about 125600

24.What was your favorite TV program?
Don't watch TV

25.Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really this time.

26.What was the best book you read?
Master Harold...and the boys

Okay, it's a play, not a book, but it's a great short play nonetheless.

27.What was your greatest musical discovery?
Easily John Coltrane. While some of his stuff gets a bit weird, he's overall been a truly inspiring new entity to me this year.

28.What did you want and get?
Graduate with my sanity in tact (mostly), errr...EMPEROR FORM!

29.What did you want and not get?
Hmmm, I'd say it, but then I think I can do without it too. Not until I find one who's right. Rather not rush into it.

30.What was your favorite film of this year?
Uhhh, barely watched any movies this year.

31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I pretty much did nothing, though I think I went out for dinner with a few friends. I turned 26.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I got to fight a monster as Kiva, and then dying in a huge blaze of glory.

You tell me.

SANITY IS FOR THE WEAK.

I don't give 2 shits about celebrities

Y'know, I could've sworn there was something, but I fell asleep and kinda forgot.

37.Who did you miss?
Pretty much everyone whenever I'm away.

38.Who was the best new person you met?
Definitely everyone I had gotten to know in the later half of this year. People like Elmo, Kie, Jing, Eri, Hikaru, etc etc you people know who are ; ].

39.Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
Don't burn your bridges so hastily. Never know when you'd need them again.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Renew your wishes, yeah, get out of this fray.
You'll never change if you keep running away.
A little time you need to figure a way.
'Cause you know it doesn't lie in front of you,
and you know it doesn't lie in front of you.
